Whose Streets?

Told by the activists and leaders who live and breathe this movement for justice, Whose Streets? is an unflinching look at the Ferguson uprisings of 2014. When unarmed teenager Michael Brown is killed by police and left lying in the street for hours, it marked a breaking point for the residents of St. Louis, Missouri. Grief, long-standing racial tensions, and renewed anger brought residents together to hold vigil and protest the tragedy. Empowered parents, artists, and teachers from around the country came together as freedom fighters. As the National Guard descended on Ferguson with military-grade weaponry, these young community members became the torchbearers of a new resistance.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017 and went on to tour the festival circuit. Whose Streets? was Davis’ foray into feature-length documentary. The film has been nominated for a Critic’s Choice award, Gotham Award, and NAACP Image Award. Filmmaker Magazine selected Co-Director Sabaah Folayan and Davis for their “25 New Faces of Independent Film 2016.”
